For potentially explosive environments, special fans are produced having EN14986:2007 certification ("Design of fans intended for potentially explosive atmospheres"; these fans also comply with UNI EN1127-1:2008 "Explosion prevention and explosion protection"; UNI EN 13463-1:2009 and EN13463-5:2003 "Non-electrical equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres"; as for guards to UNI EN ISO 12499:2009 "Mechanical safety of fans. Guards" (which replaces UNI 10615:1997 and fully implements EN ISO 12499:2008). All MZ Aspiratori standard fans complying with the ATEX directive have been examined by the commission of TÜV NORD, and have received the relevant certification.
Zones with the presence of gas
When the danger is due to the presence of gases, vapors or mists of flammable substances, the European Directive 1999/92/EC provides for a classification into three zones defined as follows:
Zone 0: Areas where an explosive atmosphere is always, or for long periods, present. Category 1G fans and power equipment with double protection are to be installed in this zone.
Zone 1: Areas where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur under normal conditions. Category 2G fans are provided in this zone, and explosion-proof or increased-safety electric motors may be installed (subject to the limitations of the standards for the latter).
Zone 2: Areas where an explosive atmosphere is possible rarely and, if at all, only for a short time. In this zone, category 3G fans are provided and antidefl aging or increased safety motors may be installed; non-sparking motors may also be installed.
Zones with the presence of dust
When the hazard is due to the presence of combustible dust, European Directive 1999/92/EC provides for a classification into three zones as defi ned as follows:
Zone 20: Areas where an explosive atmosphere is always, or for long periods, present. Category 1D fans and power equipment are not to be installed in this zone.
Zone 21: Areas where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur under normal conditions. Category 2D fans are provided in this zone and electric motors certified according to the ATEX directive with IP6X protection may be installed.
Zone 22: Areas where an explosive atmosphere is possible rarely and, if at all, only for a short time. Category 3D fans are provided in this zone. In the presence of conductive dust, electric motors certified according to the ATEX directive with IP6X protection may be installed in this zone. While in the presence of nonconductive dust, in addition to motors with IP6X protection, IP5X motors with a declaration of conformity issued by the manufacturer may be installed.
The certification temperature of the assembly is a function of the working temperature of the fan and represents the maximum temperature that can be reached by any surface of the assembly. It follows that the certification of the assembly corresponds to the "worst" of the certifications proper to the individual components.MZ Aspirators fans can be used to move both clean air and air mixed with dust or particles of varying particle size, they can also be used in the context of more complex systems, machines or plants. The certifications we are able to issue are as follows: 2G, 2D, 2GD, 3G, 3D, 3GD. MZ Aspiratori Atex fans are part of the equipment Group II Category 2G or 2D as in Annex VIII paragraph b of the Atex Directive, they are constructed using the constructive safety protection criterion "c".MZ Aspiratori certifies only and exclusively the fan and not the electric motors or other components that are already purchased complete with their own certification.
